First, thank you for checking out our website and information about our Berlin Education Mission. We are excited to launch this education mission again to show off the thriving Berlin Jewish community. The reason why we created this mission is that we wanted to reach out and get ground truth on what is truly going on in Europe but especially Germany today. The other priority is to connect people from different walks of life and share a great experience together.
1. Why Berlin?
Berlin is a unique topic of discussion in the Jewish communities across the globe. In the recent years there has been a rise in Jewish immigration to Germany as a whole but also specifically to Berlin. The bulk of the immigrants come either from former Soviet Union bloc countries but also Israel. All in all a total of 20,000 Jews have made their way back to Germany and Berlin. Our group will engage with leaders from each community to provide insight on why they made the move and what their life is like in the heart of the capital.
2. What does the cash go to that I am donating?
Our organization is truly a non-profit and we pride ourselves by currently having any overhead. Which means that 96% of our funds raised go to our programs and partners. The bulk of the donation will be contributed to airfare, lodging, food and activities on the mission. Whatever funds remain will go to our partnership organizations of Krembo Wings and Derech Eretz within Israel. Click on our partnership page for information on these two programs.
3. What makes this trip unique?
The main reason this mission and program is unique is that it has been established by a group of peers with the intent to build a bond within the community. This is not a top down driven kind of mission and there are no paid professionals from Fulda Foundation, so 96% of the donated funds go to what it is intended to.
4. Does a participant have to be Jewish to participate?
Not at all, we are open to all and everyone is invited to join any of our programming or trips.
5. Can I extend or show up before the group on the trip?
That is the great part of our trips, once it is over people usually stay longer and enjoy other places. All you have to do is let us know in advance and the individual pays any fees that are incurred from flight changes.
6. What if I can’t afford to go on the mission but still have interest?
Our organization is user-friendly and we allow individuals to either raise their own funds from friends and family or simply pay their deposit on their own. We still need the initial deposit at the same time but then can get individuals on a payment plan for the rest of the funds.
