It is that time of year again for me and my good partner Josh to talk with our friends and family to support Fulda Foundation. A project we started more than four years ago where we felt that we could put our own mark in the world. Just like the picture above of a trail in the woods, there was a path that we followed but sometimes there were things along the way that might have hindered our progress. Personal roadblocks and shortcomings that effect your passion, outside influences, and many other variables that are simply out of your control running an organization.
To be honest it has been a humbling experience to how we ended up at this point in the organization and the support we have received. If you asked me five years ago while I was still in the military if I could see myself running a non-profit and connecting like minded people to meaningful experiences across the world I would have laughed in your face. I am sure the same can be said for Josh, who has stated many times on trips and events that this organization has filled a void in his life. We just ultimately knew we wanted our own brand of philanthropy out there and its growing year by year.
It has not been easy but I think we knew that going into it with full fledged careers and no real staff support. However, one by one people have enjoyed what we do and have been supporting us along the way. In the words of Simon Sinnek, “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” I think we have built trust with our donors and partnership organizations with our actions and authenticity. I think donors and volunteers like the vision and that younger people in the community are putting aside their own self interest to enrich others.
We just would like to thank everyone we talk with in the coming weeks of our campaign for their support and just listening to what we have to say. Collectively our group is always humbled by the generosity of friends and family in our vision. We hope to one day show you personally the lives you are effecting with even the smallest donations. Let’s band together for what we believe in, putting our own personal gain aside for the betterment of others. Looking forward to talking with everyone and seeing what has changed in our lives since we last connected.
