This one is near and dear to our hearts. Jonathan is an Air Force veteran and Ben, one of our co-founders met him through some other Denver veterans. Jonathan served on active duty out of Las Vegas for a total of 8 years. He deployed overseas three times performing heavy construction, combat engineering and explosive demolition.
The weekend before Thanksgiving of last year Jonathan went to go and see a concert on Colfax. This night seemed like any other night until the concert let out. Walking back to his car parked on a side street he was held at gunpoint by two individuals. He complied with the assailants and gave him whatever cash he had on hand. As they left the scene they still shot Jonathan in the leg and he stumbled out onto Colfax. He was rushed to the hospital and operated on immediately with a lengthy rehabilitation projected.
Johnathan now wears a boot proudly with American flags all over it. In true Jonathan fashion he doesn’t let his incident get the best of him and lives his life as much as he can the same. However, the Veterans Affairs (VA) paid for 90% of his medical bills. Leaving Johnathan having to come up with the rest on his own. Jonathan would never ask for help like this on his own but as a friend and having a forum like Fulda Foundation Ben wanted to help in some way. The goal is to raise 5K for Johnathan’s medical bills and we think Denver community once hearing this story will be more than happy to help.
We have already raised a total of $700 dollars and are looking for more help.
